GreenARTS Camp Projects
It brings such joy to my heart when a camper has a big project in mind for the week. This is what it’s all about for me, helping campers or students express themselve through art, support and empower them with the tools and skills to accomplish that goal. This camper wanted to follow the traditions of her family by making her very own Chinese Loin Head and we did just that.

We started with a large square box for the base of the lion head.

Using recycled materials, crumpled paper and tape to create the details.

Cut a viewing hole between the eyes so when worn the dancer can see out.

Then paper mached all the details to strengthen it.

Once completely dried the camper designed and drew on the details, then painted them in.

She didn't leave any of the details out.

Great job!

Now to paint the rest of the blue in, around all the designs.

Lastly we hot glued strips of light blue faux fur to finish off the detailing.

Wow, wow, wow!

but wait the story doesn't end there ... this camper has 2 sisters and they too made their own Lion Heads.

This sister made a medium sized Lion Head painting it orange and pink.

The youngest sister made a smallest one ...

This Lion Head was painted white with lots of pink highlights. All 3 are just amazing!
